The Ear of Malchus: A Novel of the Passion Week, (Paperback)

One servant. One wound. One miracle the system could not explain.

Malchus has spent his entire life in the household of the high priest-carrying cups, lighting lamps, reciting prayers he learned before he could understand them. He is a servant named Melech-"king"-though no one has ever explained why his mother gave a slave's son such a name.

On the night before Passover, Malchus is ordered to join the arrest party sent to seize Jesus of Nazareth in the garden of Gethsemane. In the torchlit chaos, a fisherman's sword severs his ear. Then the man he came to arrest kneels beside him in the dirt and heals him.

What follows is the story of a man who witnessed the Passion Week from inside the system that orchestrated it.

The Ear of Malchus is biblical historical fiction that inhabits the silences between the Gospel verses-faithful to Scripture wherever it speaks, inventive only where the text falls silent.
